This song is about finding peace in making hard, life-changing decisions.

Ten years ago, I wrote Ain't Nothing Wrong with a writer/producer in Nashville named Seth Jones.

When I first moved to Nashville, I had a manager who was entrenched in the film/tv synchronization* side of the music industry. This manager was connected to a network of songwriters who wrote music for tv & film. I was definitely interested in learning how to write songs suited for the screen, and was set up on co-writes from Nashville to LA, to dip my feet in the water.

I was learning that for songs to be ideal for tv/film, they had to have a lot of the story taken out.

"Less details in the lyrics" was what I kept hearing from people in the field.

After 4 years of being told the exact opposite as a songwriting major in college, I was honestly confused.

Thirty some "less detailed" songs later, I started to get frustrated creatively. I missed the details. I missed the unedited, no-hold back, raw process of writing songs in my bedroom. But... I followed through on writing & recording a 6 song EP "Inside This Song" for my manager and for potential tv & film syncs. Soon after that project wrapped up, I realized I had lost myself. I was angry that I wasted the time, and the money.

The management relationship fell apart. It was a mess.

But... I can look back now and see that it wasn't a waste of time at all. To be thrown into the co-writing scene immediately upon arrival in Nashville is a gift. I realize now how rare that is here. I was lucky.  I can also confidently say I met some incredible writers/producers/artists, some of whom I still write with, and some of whom have gone on to do huge things (ex: Ian Fitchuk won a GRAMMY for producing Kacey Musgrave's Golden Hour Record).

And... I know it wasn't a waste of time because I can randomly find an old file on my computer like 'Ain't Nothing Wrong' and share it with you. You... who get me, and my details, and my raw songs written in my bedroom.

Hey, if it led me to you, I'm a happy camper.

Love ya & thanks for listening.

XO - LL

*“Synchronization” is the use of music in visual media such as TV, film, advertisements, trailers, or video games. It literally describes the “synched” pairing of audio and visuals. It's an agreement between the owner of the visual media + the owner(s) of the music.

It's a beautiful, heart-wrenching song. I can easily imagine it being used in a film. You are such a talented song-writer, Liz!
