Unreleased Song #7: Wake You Up (Patreon)

Here's something TOTALLY different from what you've heard me share here before! 

Wake You Up was written in 2018 during my pop writing phase. It was a BLAST.  I wrote with a super talented new wave of writers (pictured) in Nashville, who were either still in college at Belmont, new to town or newly signed to a publishing deal. I met so many unique, bold and expressive people. They really inspired me & taught me a lot. At the time, my tour calendar was light so I was writing constantly (sometimes 2 sessions a day). In this pop writing phase, I got to use a whole different set of songwriting tools, and sometimes even a different side of my voice. This is one song I've wish so badly I could include in my releases but I haven't figured out how to bridge the genre gap. 

My co-writers: Jake Ohlbaum & Whakaio Taahi were kind enough to let me share this demo with you. I loved creating this song with them! Whakaio produced this track, mostly while writing the song with me and Jake. It's a talent I can't wrap my head around. This was our first time writing together. 

The message: This song is all about living in the moment instead of constantly pining for the future. It's meant to wake you up and make you feel alive.
