Unreleased Song #5: Start It Over (Patreon)

The last Unreleased Song of the year! Thank you for proving to be a safe space for me to share these songs with you. 

This is Start It Over, the result of my first co-write with Nashville based artist Isaac Fox. We'd never met, and didn't have any pre-conceived notions of each others' music. For me, that's hugely helpful in creating something unique. I love ANY time I walk out of a co-write with a song that sounds different than your typical Nashville song. That happened here, and it happened naturally.

I tested this song several times on stage, and it felt like a special song. Eventually it sonically inspired Torture, but the two songs could not exist on the same record. The message of this song feels like a moody follow up to Torture.  This will definitely be in the running for the next album. Whenever that will be!

This recording: Though this iPhone recording is far from perfect, I chose to share it because it's the only recording where you can hear Isaac's guitar playing and his beautifully gravely vocals. Listening back to this version made me think... this song could be a duet on the next album. First artist that comes to mind? John Paul White. Dare I dream!!! :) 

Lyrically: I've since tweaked several words and will be sure to share that version with you in the coming weeks! When I tweaked it, I even changed the title to Start Again. I'd be curious to hear if you have a preference when I share version #2. :)
