The story about Send You My Love and how it's grown over time...

In the fall of 2018, I was playing a house concert in Dallas, TX.  It was there I met Rylee, the granddaughter of the hosts. She made a lasting impression on me. Her grandparents started showing me footage of her singing along to Dough 4 Dough as a toddler in her carseat! It was PRECIOUS. When I was sound-checking for the show, she hopped up on a chair to reach my mic, and checked it for me. I could see she was more than comfortable "on stage". ;)

When it came time to warm up for the show, I was working on this song - Send You My Love. I'd written everything but the bridge. With my phone on, recording ideas, she walked into the room & I invited her to sing along. A melody came easily to her ... and then slowly the words started forming... "I want you and me together". I recorded the whole thing on my iPhone and will be sharing it with you at some point! Within minutes, the bridge was written. I'd officially written a song with a 7 year old.

Rylee & her grandparents flew to Nashville during the making of 'Funeral For My Past' so that we could record a version of this song together. To our surprise, she showed up in an outfit that matched mine. To watch her explore the studio, and play every instrument she could reach made the experience all the more special.  She was nervous to sing so we decided to "rehearse" with the record button on. Her performance is on the acoustic EP of Funeral For My Past. Stay tuned for the video of that. We have to share it with you!

It's been a joy to witness Rylee learn piano, sing in the choir and begin to write her own music. She's tapped into the cathartic process of writing songs about her feelings. Every now and then, we FaceTime & she'll sing me her latest musings. Here's our first-ever song together, Send You My Love.

Release Date: 8/14
