The last 1.5 years have been a wild ride for Beneos Battlemaps.

Everything started with my precious little home game and me trying to achieve the same thing we always do - offering my players the best experience possible.
Back then, I'd never thought that anyone would be interested in what I do and, in my naivety, I didn't even realize that there was a whole role play industry.

Thanks to you and your feedback, I was inspired to plan a professional approach to what started as a niche hobby of mine. This process of constant improvements, evolution and growth is wonderfully visualized within my releases.

Between my first and latest release lies a span of 60 releases, 1000 different maps and sceneries, 1500 handouts, characters or sounds. Judging by the hefty 87 GB of content and the visuals of the latest release, I have inevitably picked up a few tricks over time. 

Release 18 was the great-ruined castle of the Order of the Silver Dragon, the fallen knights sworn to Argynvost. Some of you asked me if I was planning on revisiting it, to give it a more dilapidated, ruined look, and I decided that I'd actually love to take some time, head back to Argynvostholt and remake this iconic piece of role play history.

Let's compare the old Argynvostholt to the newer Fidatov Manor!

Strictly speaking, Argynvostholt is already out there and I already did this release. But Beneos Battlemaps is evolving and with an updated version I could achieve a more atmospheric, moody, grim and authentic look and feel.

That's a whole new level of lighting, shadows, texture quality and would also allow me to implement the following features:

  • Overhead and Roof Tiles
  • A Player Introduction Cinematic
  • High Quality Handouts
  • Smaller Filesizes
  • Astonishingly better render quality for overall better visuals
  • Less single maps because of the new dynamic square distribution

I would like to let YOU decide if I should renovate Argynvostholt and release it next month or if I should continue releasing new stuff?

SHOULD I REMAKE ARGYNVOSTHOLT ?

I'm using the Ravenloft maps now for my 2nd CoS Campaign and my players love the maps, sounds and animation. However, the biggest hit for my players is the new "Player Intros" clips you've been adding. Keep up the good work!!!
