These 30 seconds are what are being flagged as copyrighted material from SME and Ryan Higga on my Facebook upload.

This is NOT happening on YouTube, this is a Facebook issue...this time. :)

I am filing a dispute, but it's interesting to note that they threaten you while filing a dispute in that filing a "false claim" could include complete deletion of your channel.

Lol, does Sony own the Price is Right gong sound of the hits on steel?

Anonymous

To be fair, Karl with a single shot breech loader from 1870 is pretty scary.

ViejoLobo

Third party asshats trying to censor content.

Ryan D Thorne

I want to hear what material they claim this infringes on.

Anonymous

This is intentional harassment, because of whatever the person filing the claim chooses it to be. It could be that they are offended by the content, or just trying to make things difficult for that they consider ‘entertainment’ . This is an outgrowth of the Congress bending over backward for the corporations fir both internet freedom and the Copyright fiasco. Both subjects InRange has been vocal (and correct) as to the problems.

Anonymous

Apparently Sony owns the copyright to the sound that a small lead object, travelling at a faster-than-sound speed, makes as it impacts a thin sheet of human-silhouetted steel…

Anonymous

If your account is at risk for a false claim, so should the originator of the complaint. Not that that would stop anyone for long, any more than being banned in an online game or internet forum. If your intent is to harass people, your identity isn't important to you, so banning is only a minor inconvenience. Like the saying goes, they have to only win once, you have to win every time. Good luck.

Anders Weidik Bendsen

I suppose this is what a frivolous claim looks and sounds like . .. best of luck to you. 👍

Copyrighted material???? Total BS. F**k Sony.

Anonymous

The fact that the claimant apparently (???) doesn’t have to affirmatively say what work is being infringed in order to file a dispute seems… problematic

Brian Ingram

And I own the copyright to the sound of a small lead object, travelling at a slower-than-sound speed. So, you know, "all your .45 are belong to us."

WasteBook just saying

The "nigahiga" Ryan Higa (https://www.facebook.com/search/top?q=ryan%20higa)??? It's either an honest mistake or somebody has hacked his account to use it to file frivolous complaints against other Facebook users they don't like. Hard to believe that someone is honestly claiming copyright to InRange content that they obviously have no rights to.

Djd

So absurd it's 'almost' funny.

Djd

And the idea of Carl as an outlaw.🙄😁

Some of the claims like this are triggered automatically by an algorithm.

Anonymous

UK Folk musician John Spiers has had copy right claims triggered against performances by him of his own compositions. The claims were from his own record company!

paul rapp

There is a very good reason why I shun facebook and all other person to person media sites.

Andomedo

Yeah, these automated systems are ridiculous. But you're already fighting them in the best possible way by uploading to alternative platforms, so good on you!

Nick Beckwith

Just to nail this down (I don’t use Facebook) the complainant here is not even Sony Music, but this ‘Ryan Higa’ person. How would this person even have standing to complain? It is not their IP being allegedly compromised in this instance. And if accounts are in jeopardy for false claims the the filer of the complaint should be in jeopardy because no reasonable person, as Ron noted, could look at this content and believe it was owned by Sony or produced by its actual creator.

Anonymous

How can this be even disputed? If this is via Sony/SME there is no background music at all to dispute. The content is obviously original to InRange.

Anonymous

Karl...I suggest going after the filer of this frivolous claim HARD. Make them regret they filed it, if possible.

Nick Beckwith

Or produced by anyone but it’s actual creator. Hate writing long posts on IPhone.

Anonymous

Is it just me or is there a low frequency humming sound like a generator or AC? Maybe it is a special effects claim used in a Sony produced movie?

Anonymous

Maybe Sony hired the Southern Poverty Law Center to monitor the internet for them. They NEVER troll and harass gun videos.

William Flowers

This goes so far beyond asinine, WTF!!! What a waste of your time!!!

William Flowers

Big Censorship shouldn’t have the arbitrary right to delete or cancel channels without something like a court of law involved. Yea, I get it if some pedi puts up kiddy porn but beyond that it’s just a form of censorship and control.

Patrick Yamada

There is a YouTuber named Ryan Higa who does funny videos for kids (my older daughter liked his videos years ago). I would be sorely disappointed if he were the one filing this false claim.

Kyle

Maybe you can file suit against Sony-SME for using your likeness without permission? Use this claim as the basis of proof for their ownership/copyright of the footage.

Anonymous

It was your shots and other sounds, obviously choreographed to a Sony owned property. 🤣

Ove Toranger

I hope we get an update, because I'd like to know the results and what the hell they thought was Sonys IP here ! (or the Higa guy)

Faustus

I gave up buying any and all Sony products years ago, when they felt it necessary to infect customers' computers with a rootkit to enforce their DRM, without consent. This incident only adds more fuel to my righteous indignation.

Guido Schriewer

deleted account. fb is pissing me off.
