Don't worry about it. I, and I assume the other Eamon, are fully aware of the strangest of our names. But you pronounce it by taking away the e and making the "o" sound like a short "e" like in "men"

Personally, I am for this as long as there is an alternative to military service for those who do not wish to serve that way. Especially if that service then leads into a college or university education.
