This invite link is currently private and being provided to Patreons as a perk for early enrollment. I'll be opening this for public enrollment in the near future.

Squad 1, my squad, is currently locked down because I need to keep the slots open for our Finnish friends from Varusteleka. Once they're all onboard and squadded we'll do something cool with the remaining open Squad 1 slots for interested Patreons who want to shoot with us...random drawing or something.

Anyways, this is our first ever InRange official match endeavor. Very exciting!

The match fee is $200. We will have prizes and sponsors.

Prizes will be provided via RANDOM DRAWING ONLY.

This will keep the competition legitimate and fun. This is an anti-cutthroat zone!

Welcome to Desert Brutality 2018, brought to you by InRangeTV & Varusteleka (https://www.varusteleka.com).

If you've seen our 2g-ACM content, or our Tiger Valley match videos, you'll have a taste of what this event will be.

This is a 2 gun event: rifle & pistol.

It will be physically, mentally and shooting challenging.

The match has unique rules and divisions and we strongly recommend you review them before signing up.

We will not be posting stage descriptions nor minimum round counts per stage.

The estimated bare minimum round count is 250 rifle and 250 pistol. We will update specifics via email as the match draws closer.

The match will be run at the Cowtown Range in Peoria, AZ:

http://cowtownrange.com/

Cowtown

10402 W Carefree Hwy, Peoria, AZ 85383

The rules as well as a division break out cheat sheet are attached to this page in PDF format for your convenience.

If you prefer to review the rules and division via the web, you may do so with the links below:

Im sick so if Im just not seeing it please forgive, but is there a date other than "2018"?

Anonymous

I was wondering the same thing. I would also like to know an actual date. It would nice to do this but it will take a lot of forward planning on my part since I live in Arkansas

Daniel Ketchum

A few things that I see that I'm curious about: First, a date (or at least month) Second: you say 5.45 is an acceptable caliber, but then that "Bimetal projectiles (lead core with mild steel jacket covered in copper) may be permitted at Match Director discretion.", which means discretion is needed for 5.45. Third: some sort of engagement range would be very helpful.

Anonymous

Always really interesting to see match rules, and to see how they differ between competitions.

Date is 3-4 February. Click on the link for registration and it's on there.

InRangeTV

It's in the link, Feb 3 & 4. I've updated the Patreon post to reflect that now.

InRangeTV

5.45 is fine, just no AP or 7n6 sort of stuff. Date is in the link, but it's Feb 3 & 4. Engagement ranges will be a surprise.

Vz.58 + Vz.82 for Classic or nah

Anonymous

To clarify, legal pistols for the. classic division. Must be issue in 1970?

Reverend Charles

So my APX has 21 round mags. This is NOT considered a "happy stick?" And I love the term "snivel gear."

Anonymous

Karl, can folks attend on their own, or do they need a "squad" pre-formed before going down? Is so, how big of a "squad"?

Anonymous

Dang I wish I could go, please tell me you will be doing this again!

InRangeTV

Yes, but we can make some exceptions within reason. If you have a grey zone question, ask.

Anonymous

The rules state that a sling is required, but there are no rules regarding the condition of the rifle when slung during the stage. How will slings be utilized?

InRangeTV

That will be dicatated by stage design at each individual stage, as necessary

Anonymous

Any chance you guys doing a video covering what it takes for people from overseas to attend the match eg submitting the ATF form 6NIA etc and any other advice. Would be great to attend one of your matches one day

Aaronbern

I'm tempted to go with my SKS in classic division (stupid CT AW ban) while my Tokarev would be a historically accurate sidearm 7.62x25 seems to be against the rules, and I'm not converting an original tula tt-33 to 9mm. Walther p1 it is.

Anonymous

Recovery from a shoulder surgery means I won't be able to go...hopefully next year!!

InRangeTV

That's a mistake. Let me fix that, we're not trying to prevent 7.62x25.

Anonymous

I'm in. I think I understand the divisions, but to double check: AR15 with a 1-6 scope and a Browning Hi Power would fit into Scout division, correct?

Anonymous

Unfortunately I can only do morale support. I should send you a couple of containers of pasta maybe. Keep it up. I hope one day I'll be able to afford a vacation to the US to come and shoot at one of your matches.

Scott Watrous

This is actually really tempting to attend but living in CT I have never done a full shooting competition before, so I'm really not sure if it's a good first time event. That said, if I understand correctly for a PTR-91 to qualify for Classic division, I assume would require the original slim plastic handguards and the like, but would it qualify with the clone rifle's default Navy-style trigger pack or would one have to get a metal lower?

Anonymous

Sorry if I missed it in the reading, but what are the dates?

Anonymous

Out of curiosity, was there a particular reason for 1970 as the termination of the "Classic" division, or was it selected more or less because a limit was needed? Some factors I could see would be capturing the difference between the age of battle rifles and the modern spread of intermediate calibers, the desire to keep "Classic" mostly free of AR-15's, and a deep-seated need to prevent anyone from making the mistake of SA-80.

When does this go public?

Thomas Stancomb

I would love to go. Hell, going to one of your 2G-ACM matches is basically a bucket list item for me, this would be even better. I just can't swing the time for the trip though (I live 1500 miles away).I also don't know about the squad bit. If I had to already be a part of a squad getting that many guys together just isn't likely for me. If we could sign up and be placed in squads it would be more doable.

InRangeTV

I was planning on giving Patreons an early chance to sign up, but we're not seeing a lot of enrollment from Patreon so probably sooner rather than later?

Anonymous

When you sign up you can select a squad to be in. You don't have to pre-squad then sign up. If you do get a chance, come on out. The regular 2g-acm's are a blast and this sounds to be even better.

Anonymous

I appreciate the chance to get in early, surprised that more haven't jumped on it.

InRangeTV

Specially considering that more than 60 people said in the survey they'd go?

InRangeTV

I am going to go public with this on Wednesday, December 6th. It'll be a Patreon only private link until then, that's one week. Honestly, we had 60+ Patreons confirm in the survey they'd go and we've had 9 actually sign up?

Anonymous

That's to bad, you would hope people would take these survey seriously, but i guess thats not the case. Now another question for you Carl, if someone wanted to attend from another country, say Canada, would there be equipment in the area availible to rent? I could likely bring a rifle along, but everything else would add up pretty quick on checked luggage. I'm not saying for this coming match, but if it goes again next year, i may try to swing it.

2021-11-15 09:00:15 Looks like fun, and pretty much down the street from me...don't think I'd be able to make it tho. But can I come & spectate if I don't sign up?

I finally signed up, but I don't check Patreon every day. I only just figured out how to access Discord a week ago.

Does a Gvt model Colt with no modifications qualify for classic division?
