Patreon Update 2 (Patreon)

Hello everyone, for those wondering where the poll is for next month, I have been holding off on it, due to issues that came up last month.

For those who are not aware of the issues with Patreon, my account had been flagged for it, and I would have to submit information. I do not feel comfortable with giving them, as I had been following them over the years. I had been talking with Patreon support about this, and asking what I could do.

In order to make my account safe. EVERYTHING would have to go. All of the stories, the drafts, polls, everything. Naturally doing so makes me hesitant to commit to it, in part due to all of the work that has gone into it. In their own words, even if I were to post them back on in an edited state to avoid it, I would have to be recategorized and would wind up back in the issue I was at before.

This will likely be the end of my Patreon. The main reason why I first started it was because of emergency cash when I lost my job back during COVID and it evolved into being an extra art fund for stories and my fantasies. Since I thought it would help elevate them to the next level and add more to them.

For the record, I will be grateful to Patreon for what it has given me. The weekly posts were a way to help motivate me, and Patreon sharpened my writing speed with those deadlines. It has given me a good bit of money to make those art fantasies I want happen. Both for TG, fanfic, and more.

I am deciding what I want to do. While looking at other opportunities like Subscribestar is a possibility and can set that up, or even trying to set up a website of all things like with Squarespace or something. One of the differences about Subscribestar, is the fact that I would be able to get a bigger cut, and would not be able to send the money to paypal. This is not a deal breaker, but keeping it in my paypal account was a way to differentiate my life money, from my art/play money. And was a way to act as a check and balance for myself to make sure I didn’t go over.

I have also considered just letting it go and considering just going back to commission work since it has its pros. Such as being able to focus more on that, so people don’t have to wait as long. Would this mean less money, of course, but I will not deny it has its appeal as well. And the discounts would remain if I do, though would probably be altered.

Even if I do lose the income I gain from it, I am fortunate enough to have a full time job to support me and handle all of my real life bills.

Before I commit to anything, I will probably pause the billing cycle. The changes would go into effect the 4th from what I saw, and I’m not sure if I should commit to the month if that is the case. Would I like to do a poll? Maybe as one last hurrah.

I am grateful for all the support you all have given me, and hope whatever I decide you all will continue to support me in one way or another.
