Herman was nervously tapping the restaurant table while waiting for his date. His cousin Mary was playing cupid again and had set him up on a semi-blind date with a girl named Josephine. Yet a half hour had passed and there she still hadn’t arrived. Worried that something had happened… or that he had just been stood up… he decided to give his cousin a call.

The phone rang and he answered with a weak “Hello.”

"Hey Herman, how's the date going? Isn't she lovely?" his cousin Mary asked excited.

"Actually, she hasn't arrived yet,” he said with a sigh. “I've been waiting for half an hour. I think she changed her mind.”

"What?! No way! She was really excited to meet you. I mean she was nervous about her mutation but that probably wouldn’t have stopped her from coming. I’m sorry man." Mary said.

"She seemed nice," Herman said. “I mean I’ve only seen her face and I could tell she had some animal features but nothing that would have put me off.”

"Wait… you don't know anything else about her?" Mary asked worriedly.

"You didn’t tell me. This was supposed to be a blind date remember? I know some of her interests, but I didn't dare ask about her appearance. It seemed inappropriate. That's why I invited her to the old Panorama to meet her in person," Herman said.

"...The Panoirama, is that the restaurant on the top floor of the old Baxter Street skyscraper?" she asked.

"Yes, that's the one, with those beautiful antique elevators," Herman said.

"Oh, crap," she said, decidedly distressed. "That’s not gonna work, those elevators are gonna be a problem. I should have told you more about her."

"Don't tell me she's afraid of elevators," Herman said, surprised and confused.

"It's not that. It's just that... Wait a moment, I just got a message from her," his cousin said before coming back to the call. "Herman, she's outside the building, and about to go home. Hurry up and catch her."

"I... okay, but I don't understand whats going on," Herman replied. He didn’t want to hurt her feelings though.

"You’ll understand soon enough just GO!" his cousin shouted before hanging up abruptly.

Herman left some cash at the table to pay for his coffee and made his way toward the exit. As the elevator descended he tried to figure out what could have possibly prevented Josephine from meeting up. He had countless questions, questions that were promptly answered as the elevator reached the ground floor and he ran outside the hotel.

There stood Josephine, an absolutely massive mutant. Standing at well over ten feet tall, she appeared to be a hybrid of human and blue whale. She was very curvy but she held it well, accentuating her proportions with her blue dress and wedge heels. Her arms were flexible and resembled large fins, and a long, thick tail fell behind her well-formed legs. When she saw Herman, she blushed immensely, her cheeks taking on a darker hue.

"Herman, I... I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to stand you up," she said apologetically. "...The elevators are... too small for my size and weight. I’ve been asking the staff if there was any other way up there for the last half hour!”

It was only then that Herman realized his mistake.

"I thought about taking the stairs, but I was afraid of getting too sweaty for our date. Plus I’m not even sure I’m in enough shape to walk up an entire skyscrapers worth of stairs! And what if the stairwell was too narrow or if the stairs couldn’t hold my weight. I’d be stuck! I considered the cargo elevator but it was too dirty. I’d be covered in dirt and dust and my blowhole is very sensitive to allergens. I was going to call you, but I got really nervous and I started feeling like my mutation was just screwing everything up. I just wanted to go home but I couldn't find any XXXL Ubers in the area," Josephine explained.

"No no no, Josephine, it’s my fault. I should have chosen a better restauraunt," Herman said, visibly embarrassed.

"It's not your fault. I should have warned you about how huge I am," Josephine said.

"The important thing is that we’re both here now, so we have a second chance. Where would you like to go? It's still early," Herman said.

"You still want to go out with me? Even though I'm, hah, a leviathan?" Josephine asked.

"Only if you still want to go out with me, who from your perspective must look like a hobbit."

"Less of a hobbit, more of a gnome," said Josephine, laughing. "You’re small enough that I could use you as a keychain."

"Hah, really?" asked Herman, a little more relaxed than before.

"I only use the cutest keychains," said Josephine in an awkward but flirtatious tone. At least it was a sign that she was relaxing too. "There's a modern restaurant in the mall that has accommodations for more unusual mutants. It’s not quite as fancy but the menu’s really good."

"Great, let's go there," said Herman, stretching his arm to take her fin. "And don't worry, I'll pay."

"I'll accept this time, but next time I’ll treat you." said Josephine. She squatted down and lifted Herman easily with her fins, hugging him against her massive four breasts. "I like spoiling the people I’m into. I'm so glad we finally met in person."

"Believe me, the feeling is mutual," said Herman as he was nestled between Josephine's four huge breasts.

They both happily headed towards the mall, Josephine carrying Herman the whole way. Along the way, Herman felt his phone vibrate. It was his cousin again. Herman answered and put it on speakerphone.

"Did you catch up with her?" asked Mary, concerned.

"Yes, luckily," said Herman, while tenderly holding on to Josephine

"Hi Mary, thanks for helping us meet," said Josephine bending her head down to talk into the speaker.

"Don't mention it. It's always a pleasure to bring together my dear friend and my favorite cousin," she said. "But the question is... what time are you guys going to… you know… harpoon each other?"

Josephine and Herman blushed at Mary's unfortunate analogy.

"Th-that's quite improper, even for you, Mary," said Herman before hanging up suddenly.

For a moment, both lovers remained silent before Josephine's fin landed on Herman's shoulder.

"... Would you like to try tonight?"
