Friends, and being about to have 70 associated drawings my Patreon, from next'm thinking about changing the method to pledge my patreon Patrons Charge Upfront, new patrons will be charged on the day They pledge.

They will be charged on the 1st of the month for Their next charge and following charges. This will only be for new Patreons.

The existing Patrons will have no change in their bills or anything else.

This is because, some Patrons have been able to become a patron of a monthly creator to check out the content, then a delete their pledge before they are charged at the beginning of the month.

Although this does not affect you, I wanted to know who thought about it.

I agree charging up front. That will help prevent "hitchhikers" from coming and going too often

This is okay for me. :) I'm just surprised that patreon allows such misuse of the pledge system. I'd thought that you're bound for at least one month once you pledge.

"Charge up front" is the best option. Patreon should never have had another option.

Definitely charge up front. People will need to support you to see your work. At least, this will make people think twice before trying to get it for free.

I was of the impression that Patreon had outright changed to that system, rather than simply integrating it as an option. Honestly, I doubt either system is going to make much difference to the overall pledge amount, anyone miserly enough to run out on the check is probably miserly enough to just outright not bother if they're being charged up-front.

This is the only sane way to charge - do it! :-)

I think you should without a doubt do this. I'd also like to remind you I suggested you do this months ago ;P It doesn't hurt anyone and it protects you from people that would otherwise abuse the system.

If it's an option then I say go for it yeah. There's a lot of people abusing art patreons due to that loophole, and whatever brief inconvenience there is for a backer makes up for the security. And I say that as a backer, yeah.

Talyn2323

i want to do this for my own patreon as well, but i'm not sure where to look to activate it, heh

If that many people are doing it, then go ahead and charge up front.

Andreas

Yeah do this without hesitation, people who pledge to you just to snatch some pics and then unpledge are disrespectfull towards you.

burnside-magic

I agree with Nathaniel and Andreas, if many people are doing it, then set it up like that. It's cheap of them to do that!

As a fellow content creator, I have no shame in asking people to pay up front. Artists have bills to pay.
