Hey there,

I was wondering about mutants who have no nipples. Do they still produce breastmilk? Can they feed their babies? If they have eyes on their breasts would it be through tears?

I appreciate how active your imagination is. It is important to note that nothing is particularly off limits to mutation, so yes, there could be some strange mutation to tear ducts being uses as mammary pathways.

However, the answer is actually a lot simpler than that. Nipples are the standard conveyance for milk and if a mutant does not have them then they will not be giving milk anytime soon. This isn’t actually that weird as there are plenty of non-mutant mothers who cannot produce milk. There are many ways to feed a baby without breastmilk in our modern era and some may consider our ability to produce milk to already be an unnecessary feature.

It is also possible that women who have breast mutations simply have nipples somewhere else on their body. Remember, breasts and nipples don’t have to go together. She could store milk in her breasts and express it somewhere else. Nipples are small and easy to hide and, when located on another part of the body, for some reason more socially acceptable when feeding your baby… which is weird because no one should view breastfeeding as unacceptable in the first place, but that’s a whole other discussion.
