At first, and because I  did not read Patreon's blog well, I thought that the increase in money  recovered by the artists would be due to a decrease in the monthly  service cost charged by Patreon. I realize now that this is in charge of the monthly pledge and new fee scheme, I see it's a terrible decision.

Unfortunately today I lost four patrons due to this change ... and I understand it. Unfortunately  for me it is complex, because as I mentioned before, I am installing  myself in my new home and I have had many extra expenses.

Unfortunately we do not have any alternatives to Patreon yet (we do not know what use policies DRIP will have on Kickstarter). I  can not make more than 200 monthly commissions nor do I have another  method in mind, so to the people who have decided to stay as my patrons,  I thank them very much. Among the artists we are trying to put pressure on Patreon to change his decision, that he was not consulted with anyone.

This guy actually dealt with it by reducing his tier pricing scheme so that everyone ends up paying approximately they same they did before. Maybe you can do that? <a href="https://twitter.com/scully1888/status/938748811262005248/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.engadget.com%2F2017%2F12%2F07%2Fpatreon-shifting-processing-fees-creators-to-supporters%2F" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://twitter.com/scully1888/status/938748811262005248/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.engadget.com%2F2017%2F12%2F07%2Fpatreon-shifting-processing-fees-creators-to-supporters%2F</a>

I just nuked all my pledges under $3. Sorry you were caught in the fallout - if Patreon decides to do the right thing I may be back.

Well I don't really understand what's happening, to me nothing changed.

This change, it is supposed, would take effect from December 18. I will wait first to see if Patreon, faced with the overwhelming negative response of patrons and creators, gives back with this terrible decision. Otherwise, I will have to see the issue of values, although for people who donate $ 1 dollars it is already difficult to lower that value even further. As I said, this has been a real nuisance for everyone. At this moment I practically only work in my Patreon, so this bad policy instead of benefiting me, as Patreon says, only hurts us.

For a $20 a month pledge that's just under $1 in fees. It's the "per article/video/whatever" pledges where it really hurts. Take the same $20 cap, $5 per, fees are $0.58 (2.9%) + $1.40 (35c per), so $2.08. The per-post thing doesn't make any sense as there is only 1 transaction per month, so the extra 35c per post can really shift things significantly.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate that it makes more financial sense under this system to pledge $12 once a year (costing $12.70) than $1 twelve times a year (costing $16.55)?
