Timelapse and Introspection: "V&M #39: Soul Food" (Patreon)

PHEW, so I tried to focus on a few things differently this time. The particularly-perceptive among you might've noticed that in the previous comic, Layla's hand is, like, really detailed- and then it goes back to the usual blocky shapes for the rest of the hands in the comic.

When it comes to hand poses, I usually try to just get the gist of the hands position, but for Layla's hand, I decided to really try making it look like an actual fucking hand. And I like how it came out! The downside, of course, is that it takes awhile to actually draw a hand that isn't a square.

For this comic, I wanted to expand on that and make all the hands have actual fingers and hand-shapes. Did it take a long-ass time? You fucking bet. Is it tricky? Absolutely. Does it look nicer? I certainly think so - maybe investing that kind of time into the small details is what's really important? 

Also, I decided to give those "lighting" changes another shot - the ones I tried out in the previous comic, as you can see by the "ball of light" in their hair. Not sure if I'll stick with it, but we'll see where it goes.
