Here's a quick video showing off the game project I've been working on for the past month. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! I'm still really blown away by how capable and user-friendly Godot is, and what I was able to do with it.

The working title for now is Star Hopper, which I think is kind of cute and catchy. It's based on an old DOS game I used to play when I was younger called SkyRoads. It was a good way to try out 3D. I could make use of Godot's 3D features without needing to worry about all the mechanics of 3D movement since it only proceeds along one axis. Working with that limitation kept the project manageable for me as someone new to programming, but also left enough room for creativity. So although the game mechanics are relatively simple, I still think it's pretty fun to play. I just went for broke on the graphics and theatrics. x)

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the project at this point. I'd like to do a few more levels and implement some things I haven't worked with yet, like creating a HUD and a menu system. But it has been pretty time consuming and there are some other things I'd like to do yet too on my sabbatical.

Let me know what you think!

NOW I see why it's called Star HOPPER, haha. I had been picturing flying around in space, but all this bounding, it's astounding. :>
