I've been working on a locker room set the past few days. Hopefully this will be something I can use in upcoming projects. I want to get to where I'm creating full scenes rather than just having a character floating in space or working on lots of individual assets.

Despite its simplicity, this scene had a lot of challenges and things to learn. I had to learn a bit about geometry nodes in order to create arrays of the lockers. The array modifier only works on individual pieces of geometry, so to instance collections you have to use geometry nodes. They're a bit finicky (and I still didn't really set it up entirely correctly), but once they're working they're quite nice and fast. I also did some work in Substance 3D Designer in order to create the painted cinder block texture, since, weirdly, I couldn't find a PBR texture set of that specific thing. It works surprisingly well—better than Blender's procedural nodes in a lot of ways. And Adobe also has an interface for Blender now so you can load Substance Designer materials straight into Blender.

Like with everything, I want to do more environments too! If nothing else, they'll come in handy later as I do more characters, posing or animations.
