The whole point of the "no conversation" thing was to show, that we don't really talk to each other anymore, because we are so distracted by technology. I still wondering like you, how a 3d printer could shoot bullets. It was kind of a weird and very unusual episode, I give you that. But I kinda liked it. There were worse ep's in this revival. It reminds me a bit of more current tech-horror shows like Black Mirror on Netflix, I highly recommend that. And I think it's great that The X Files finds ways to make an episode differently, even after 11 seasons.
