The Jesse thing is he has PTSD, pretty clearly, flashbacks on audible triggers is the clue. More confusion, sure, bit of a pallet cleanser that episode, but there are a few important things that happen. The pacing is weird for you because it's kinda designed to be binged - you binge it you kinda need that episode, if you take it slower I imagine it's probably way too slow. Do you remember a few episodes back where it is mentioned that her brother is sent to help her in every dimension? The reveals are all in the back of the season, for sure.

So the FBI guy said he was sent to help OA. Does that mean that he is her spirit brother? Still doesn't explain what he was doing at her house where he met Alphonso, unless it was to push him not to give up on the movements and believe her story. I'll have to rewatch that scene from S1.
