problem is that they don't know how long was that kid there, and what and how much exactly he saw, seems like failure in perimeter watch, either than that..that is the life they chose- breaking bad

Earlier on in the episode Walt mentioned that they don't exactly advertise what is in each carriage/container. Lydia told them that as part of her job she get's a copy of the manifest and can give them a few hours notice as to which carriage will have the methylamine. That's how they know which one to hit.
