It's time!

Rules: There are four choices. The poll will be open till the end of the week. The two choices with the most votes by then will pass to the second round.

The titles of these stories are subject to change, because, let's face it, that's not my strong suit.

Your Choices are...

1) The Villainess’ Second Chance

Summary: In one reality, the evil archmage Grimhilde is defeated by a brave group of heroes, her plans for domination undone at the very last moment. In another, Hilda, lady-in-waiting of Princess Alina, wakes up with a gasp.

Armed with knowledge of the future, Hilda has the chance to rewrite history. However, it is not redemption she seeks. She knows the faces of her enemies now, and she’ll not allow them to get in her way a second time.

This time, no one will stop her rise.

Comments: Medieval Fantasy. This idea was born after reading a bunch of otome villainess stories. I kept feeling disappointed that the advertised villainess was never actually a villainess, so I wanted to try doing a story where the villainess was, well, evil.

I’m not kidding about that. This is a story with a villain protagonist. Keep that in mind when voting.

Probable Length: Potentially the shortest of the four ideas here. That is not me saying this is a short story, by the way. Just shorter than the other alternatives here.

2) The World Beyond Episode 5

Summary: Adam Pryce. Heir to a fortune. Talented Maius. Admired by his peers and respected by his teachers. There is no person who wouldn’t wish for a life like his.

There is just one little problem.

Adam Pryce dies in Episode 5.

After somehow finding himself in the body of a popular animated character, one hapless guy must now do his best to avoid dying for a second time. Armed with a near-encyclopedic knowledge of one of his favorite childhood shows, does he dare step into the world that awaits him beyond Episode 5?

Comments: Isekai. Modern fantasy with a dash of superpowered high school, but really, it’s Isekai. You know what that is. I know what that is. The hook, if you want to call it that, is that the main character has to use his knowledge of the show to survive. However, the more changes he makes, the less reliable that knowledge becomes.

Also, that's not a misspelling of magius or something. The proper in-setting term is Maius.

Probable Length: Long-ish. Not as long as Ave Xia Rem Y, though. Not even remotely. None of the ideas here are that big.

3) Nine to Five Villainy

Summary: Who ever said guys and girls can’t be friends? Tim Lewis and Amy Collins. Two normal teens that will do the impossible and form a perfectly platonic bond with zero sexual tension.

Follow them through highschool, various relationships, their first part-time job, and, of course, rising supervillainy.

Comments: Superhero stuff. Well, supervillain stuff in this case.

Honestly, I just want to write a story about a guy and a girl being just friends while also being part-time supervillains. That’s kind of it. Unlike Idea 1, the two protagonists here are meant to be more sympathetic, hence the Nine-to-Five bit in the title.

Probable Length: Unknown. This is meant to have a more episodic format than the other ideas proposed here. There is an overarching plot, but overall, it’s going to have short arcs (kind of like a comic book) with room for focus on the protagonists’ personal (and later professional) lives.

4) I Thought This Was Supposed to be a Yuri Show!

Summary: After dying in a fairly embarrassing accident, a man is given a second chance at life.

Unfortunately, he’s been reincarnated in a show he’s never once paid attention to. All he knows about it comes from his annoying co-worker who wouldn’t shut up about it, not that he ever paid much attention to him. But it should be fine, right? After all, it’s just supposed to be a comfy slice-of-life show and nothing more. It’s not like his pal was one of those people who could only watch things through overly tight shipping goggles or something.

He never even mentioned anyone named Ivan Isley all those times he talked about the show, so he clearly cannot be anyone too important. It’s not like he’s in a position to affect the plot or something.

Right?

Comments: Another Isekai Idea. It’s basically a mirror of 2. In 2, the protagonist knows everything there is to know. Here, everything the protagonist knows comes from his friend, who has questionable headcanons and an overly intense fixation on shipping (we all know at least one person like that). As a result, the protagonist is expecting something nice and breezy, but he’s going to get something way different and potentially mess several things up.

Takes place in a modern setting where “magic” is very much out in the open. Also, monsters. Lots of monsters.

Probable Length: Long-ish. But again, none of these ideas have a planned length that is remotely close to Ave Xia Rem Y’s.

Hunter Dupuis

in order from most interesting to least in my opinion 3-2-4-1

I suppose it also depends on the super powers in story 3, they are often hit or miss for me so 2 may end up with my vote in round two. Could we potentially get mini chapter for the next round of voting?

3 2 4 1 for me. Is the no sexual tension sarcastic? Because it does sound sarcastic

Faiir

Regarding 1 I'd like to point out that while time genre usually doesn't have actual villains going back in time, there are a lot of male targeted stories where a guy takes revenge on people who would double cross him in the future and the story me 1 sounds exactly like that

Faiir

I must add that I just can't emphasize with a protagonist like this - me from 10 years ago is a sufficiently different person from me now that you might as well just murder a random person and call it vengeance instead

I'm somewhat dismissive of time travel in general. Once you open the door to "We can go back" you always have a shadow of going back and redoing it again. Which makes the current moment pointless.
