Taxes? On My Patreon? (Patreon)

About a few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Patreon. Some of you may have already heard about this. Some of you might not. 

Long story short, from July 1 onwards, sales taxes will be applied to some pledges. 

Patreon even gave me a sample post I could use to inform you guys of this, but that sort of stuff is just not my thing. Never been the type who uses the company lines. 

Instead, I'll try to go over what I think are the more important bits of this whole thing.

Some pledges, but not all of them will be affected by this. 

Which pledges? No idea. Until it happens, I can't tell you for sure if your pledges here will be affected or not.

Additionally, whether you are affected by this or not will depend on where you live. 

For example, there's a higher chance of you being affected by this if you live in the USA (and obviously taxes will vary from state to state). Meanwhile, if you live in the EU, you might not see any changes. Note that it is your location which will affect what taxes might or might not apply. 

As you can tell, I'm using a lots of ors, buts, and mights. That's because I really l can't tell you anything more specific than this. 

In fact, when July 1 comes, please tell me how you were affected by this or if you were affected at all. That'd be really helpful. 

On that note, there are a surpring number among you who are still using the older tiers. It is super flattering. I know you guys have been here since the early days. I just want to let you know that you don't have to feel obligated to stay in the old tiers. It is okay if you shift to the new, cheaper ones. Or don't. It's your call.
