Unfortunately, a while ago I accidentally deleted my text history with Adam along with all the videos he sent me of the game engine progress. I’ll ask him to resend them so I can show you more game engine progress. But here’s the latest video he sent me. The game engine will be able to do many special effects: Explosions, particle effects, fire, rain and lasers to name a few. Here we see him experimenting with blood splatter effects when units get attacked.

Other Game Engine Capabilities

So here's a short description of what Akumi Wars will entail. We'll follow the main character Akumi as she fights across the Hex Realms. You can recruit or capture units you fight and use them on your own team.  The fun part will be mixing and matching different character abilities for an optimal team. I can't explain it but from what Adam has shown me of the game engine, it feels unique from other TD games. The characters can have stats like an MMO character does. Chance to critical strike, stats like a chance to dodge damage, varying attack speeds, attack range and obviously attack damage. There will be characters that can raise the dead. There will be things like real time physics damage. A character can cast a projectile that bounces randomly and damages anyone it hits. Things like that.  That's why we're working on the game demo to see how this plays out.  It's pretty exciting to see how this comes together.

This looks very good! I expect the maps will be bigger. Will there be environment hazards in the game that maybe some units will work better in? Like pits only fliers can cross or bogs and marshes that slow bipedal units? Side note: I hope those sound effects are the actual sound effects because those are top-tier

Haha! Yeah there will be things like traps so environment hazards are definitely doable. Yep, flying units will be a big threat since you'll need to have units that can attack air units and they can avoid ground hazards. Getting excited to play this thing just talking about it! Glad you like the sound effects too! :P

Yep, that's pretty much what we got so far. Once the game demo is ready, we'll know more.

so will Akumi Wars be a prequel to Akumi Bounty Hunter reboot? Hope you plan to utilize all the fighting game characters in the story later on

The Akumi Wars game will mix all the Akumi variations together in this world. Everything I can fit into this game relating to Akumi will be put in!

Long time supporter here. Just have a quick question :) I'm also a supporter of an awesome game project on patreon called Summertime Saga and I was thinking, having your art style in a high quality sim/visual novel type of game would blow everyone's mindhole. Any chance of this happening in the distant future? Awesome work lately, keep it up!

Thank you MYLOkai! Funny you mentioned visual novels. A couple weeks ago Adam inquired about making a visual novel with me and then traumatized me with an introduction to Doki Doki Literature Club... not my cup of tea... But despite that, yeah there's a good chance of us creating our own visual novel in the future. :)

Can't wait to see all of these ideas come to life. Especially the Akumi style game and novel (Reading from the comment above). It's long overdue that you catch a break with your talent.
