I'm on my way to do some filming at the Morphy auction company this week, and I expect I will have some time to do another Q&A with John Keene, machine gun guru extraordinaire. What would you like to ask him?

In your opinion, what is the best GPMG available today? Assuming it would be used in a modern conflict like Ukraine or a Pacific campaign against China. Also assume the ammunition selected would be available even if it was a non standard round.

Could the US T24 project have worked? (reverse engineering the MG 42 to fire the 30-06)

Hi John. A question about the rate of fire of the MG43, on bipod. I recently fired 30 rounds each from it and a VZ 26, and fired the FN MAG and Bren a lot in the past. The 43 seemed to fire a lot faster than the GPMG, and for sure the 26 and Bren, and it felt like it would be difficult to control in 'combat'use. Yet it's regarded as one of the best GPMG's ever. Why?

I assume you mean the MG42, not 43? And when you say VZ 26, that's a submachine gun...do you mean ZB-26?

Is there a legal way for people like John to help historians like Othias and Ian connect with owners of past auctions of rare machine guns (original Colt 1895 and Fist-Revelli for example) or is the information too confidential for Morphys to reach out to the buyers on their behalf.

How effective was the M1919A6 as a stopgap measure to create a squad-level machine gun? Is it as awkward as it looks?

What kind of rare and unusual ammo belts (systems/types, including links) and feeding systems on machine guns has he seen so far that have a high historical value and are a nightmare for anyone who wants to shoot with them.

what is your opinion of BFONGs (Blank Firing Only Non Guns) verses the actual firearms for reenactors and "collectors"?

Break down on values and variations of transferrable Uzis. Being in the market for one is very confusing. Which setups are most desirable? (i.e. blocking bar vs no blocking bar, registered bolt vs registered receiver) What are reliability and parts interchangeability concerns? Presumably if you have no blocking bar and a registered receiver then you can just swap in a spare bolt whereas having a blocking bar you need a slotted bolt? Also, which configurations allow caliber changes? Thanks!
