Hungary began importing semiautomatic civilian versions of FÉG's AK-63D into the United States in the 1980s. As more restrictions were put on importation, the models had to change several times to remain legal. The pattern produced between 1990 and 1994 was the SA-85S with a thumbhole stock, and a total of 24,500 of them were imported during this period.

I don't mind but you said "they couldn't have a thumbhole stock.." at 4:21. just saying.

what makes me think... would a svd look stock on an ak be thumbhole? technically.. yes. though. I think pkm stock on an ak looks very very cool! that silly spoter thumbhole is still better than a castrated no gas system straightpull. at least that goofy sporter is a semiauto.

Were these stocks exclusively produced by/for FEG? I have a ban era Norinco that has that exact stock on it. Though the stock looks weird I actually find it very comfortable and it gives me an excellent cheek weld. On the topic of the SA-85, the ones I have seen in person have had great fit and finish, they are really fine weapons.

I also have a Norinco MAK90 with a AWB stock. The design is somewhat different.

I don't understand why this Kickstarter still hasn't broken $300k. I would have thought that AK rifles of any type would have a broader appeal than very niche topics like warlord pistols or Colliers

ForgottenWeapons

I suspect the issue is that the niche audience specifically interested in Hungarian AKs is just less interested in deep reference books than the niche audience interested in, for instance, Collier revolvers.
