Previously male, Charly is kept in a constant hypnotic daze via the music player clipped to her belt and the earphones in her ears, transforming into a caricature of a ‘Gothabilly’ Stepford Housewife. ‘She’ now believes whomever is the current focus of her attention is her ‘husband’, regardless of their gender. The ‘excessively dutiful’ facade disappears if the earphones have been out of her ears for a long enough time - allowing her very-panicked original personality to resurface.
