This isn't the next step, I always do character blocking next.  But check out my detail on the setting.  Settings are characters here.  All of that detail work really helps bring it out in the final piece.  Every detail I add makes it easier for Dave to shade, because he doesn't have to worry about texture.  Let's bring the characters back in.
