This glimpse into the past was fueled by listening to Great War from Sabaton:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggsf7yHbuZI&list=PL1JrZKcpOQRSPrsxCwNV1D_wR2QfSobgn

I've been excited to share this glimpse of Igrath's past for a long time.  Tried to think through the consequences of a grinding incursion- far from home, and it's laws.  I figure the troopers would learn tough lessons.  Such as, when charging a fortified position, mobility provides more protection than blast-plates strapped to one's legs.

Of course, one thing they couldn't know was the 'bandits' ability to traverse mud flats- making for an unexpected risk to their flank...

Wait, I thought the military was against power usage. Why was Igarath using his then?

Synariel

Slavers? So there are legitimate bandit settlements outside and several of them. Also, all this conflict due to high taxes? that seems a bit excessive.

Ebon_Sean

Andrunna must allow power usage for high ranking commanders during wartime.

Lord Kiyo

Some people just hate it when people somewhere else are trying to live free.

TyLego

I'm guessing that this was before the CCA and the Viscount had implemented the laws against powers usage?

Garrett Simpson

Aw,the cute bunny dude perished!

Benjamin Varner

Damn, Narin has an awesome power!

The Furry Centinel

It wasn't for powers usage, I think it was Anduruna's retribution for the Stadium massacre...

Garrett Simpson

My guess is that he's away from the city, enjoys the perks of his rank, and his soldiers won't tattle on him or might sanction it?

Ebon_Sean

This page is a doozie. Sets Igrath up as someone who wasn't always such a nice guy.

The Furry Centinel

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and considering that Narin has such a power, I think they are gonna need it...

The Furry Centinel

In war normally it's imprecise to determine who are the good guys and the bad guys cause' each side think they are the good ones and the others are not, there are freedom fighters and also good men who don't have a choice but to follow orders...

Shannon TJ

Meanwhile, I'm laughing that Ravat can't use his power or his jig is up. Suck it, Ravioli! Suck it hard!

Insomni-act

Narin's power is Susanoo?? Epic!

McClaw

The bandits and slavers were out there for legal and business purposes (because Anduruna's laws wouldn't let them conduct their preferred businesses). The merchants who left for financial reasons (high taxes) just made easy targets for the real criminals. But fending off the approaching military seems to have left the merchant town vulnerable to an opportune raid...

Synariel

obviously, but till then we had no insight on the dreamkeepers out of anduruna, what was their culture or purposes or even if they were unified or not. As for the conflict, i was referring to them leaving the city, not engaging with the troopers or slavers.

(does a quick re-read of DK history) Powers had been completely outlawed only the year before, after the fallout from the stadium massacre back on page 73. The massacre is also the reason for this attack; the government believed the 'bandits' were the ones responsible. I guess the army was like 'Hey, what's a little power abuse amongst friends? We're outside of Andrunna jurisdiction anyway...'
