Hola amigos! Here's the latest episode of project Chicago!

I know it's been a hot minute since I posted, but it's not because of a lack of not doing anything. I've been a busy bee!

I started fixing up all of the small things on the car and everything is just taking longer than I hoped. For example, sorting out soft-touch plastic pieces, I was expecting 1-day max... took me 3 days to finish everything.

Then some personal stuff as well, my gf was throwing a bachelorette party this weekend for a friend so I had to help out with that and we had that big E39 M5 meeting in Munich which was just epic! Later I invited everyone to the Dojo and we had 30 E39 M5s in the yard which was surreal. I'll include a clip of that in the next episode.

This also gave me an idea and next year, maybe in springtime, I'll try to organize a gathering in the shop with the help of BMW Classic and Benny Voss. It would be a closed event and all of you Patreons would naturally be invited!

As you know, the place is pretty small and unfortunately, there's no chance I could make it a public event and invite everyone, with limited parking and space, a bigger crowd simply wouldn't fit, small gathering should work.

Lately, I've been getting a lot of messages from people wanting to come for a visit and given how busy I am, I simply don't have time to meet with everyone individually so I thought this would be a great way to meet some of you. Let me know what you think of this idea!

In October, I will be most likely heading to the US with my girlfriend for a 3-4 week long vacation. Was thinking about what to do in terms of posting videos and the rough plan, for now, is to drive cross country from NY to LA and make vlog-type videos of the adventure. I found a cheap E46 M3 6-speed cabrio in Utah that needs some TLC and I'm thinking to ship it to NY, pre-order the needed parts, fix it up when we land and then set off!
This means I'd need to find someone to transport the car to NY and then find someone there who could store it, maybe has a driveway where I could wrench on it for a day, but I can also do that on some random parking lot, wouldn't be the first time :D Anyway, if perhaps someone on here could assist with some of these things, do let me know!

Many thanks for your patience and support! The next episode should be out a bit quicker!

Hey Sreten, understood that you don't really like the steering wheel but as the great custodian that you are, I think you should reconsider: It's such a typical Alpina thing that they used the steering wheel from the standard E60 5-Series in the E65 B7 to IMPROVE the E65, I mean look at the standard E65 wheel or even the E65 three spoke, yikes. It's similar to the Alpina E34 B10 getting the automatic shifter from the E31 (instead of the old school E34/E32 shifter), just a smart use by Alpina of the BMW parts bin to make the car a bit more modern. So...are there more beautiful Alpina/BMW steering wheels? Sure! But to keep it classy, you have to keep it OEM!

Fast duplicate to what I sent in a message, Sreten, just in case. I reside in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I volunteer to assist if there is something I can contribute to the logistics of acquiring the mentioned E46 M3 6-speed cabrio. Examples of capabilities I have toward assisting: remote communication, vehicle inspections with cameras, local transport of vehicles between locations in Utah, and friends with 5+ years experience building E46 and E90 3-series cars, including an M3. Just suggestions to keep in mind.
