I think this skill was already available in one build, but it wasn't complete. I've finally updated it to do what I want it to do. Basically you can now hide like Rordan's Vanish while dealing cold damage over time like Frostbite! While the Freezing Fog is active, Volga cannot be a target of enemy's action. But if anyone uses a Wind elemental skill then the fog is destroyed right away.

Hopefully this will be another defensive choice for Volga to avoid eating big damage. It doesn't last that long so you should use it wisely! Since you can choose where to place the Freezing Fog gem, it should be difficult for the opponent to match it. And if you choose a [Freeze] gem then the Freezing Fog will be reinforced, increasing the chance that you'll get most out of it.

Is this available right meow?

Richard

I like the idea, but clearly the AI is not that smart. They could have erased that Fog gem in two moves.

kemocoliseum

I did not notice that lol But yeah, the current AI is pretty simple, prioritizing some gems based on their traits. You gave me an idea on how to improve the AI though, thanks! :D - Punipen

kemocoliseum

No, anything that is available right now will be written in a specific build release post or a post about patch note. - Punipen

kemocoliseum

Yeah, I'm worried about that as well. The cost is high though, so we'll just have to see if it's too op or not. - Punipen

Richard

Happy to help. And no worries, I realize there's no feasible way to account for every possible variable so the AI is going to be limited in some regards.

I also read some developer notes regarding AI in a match-3 RPG like this and they found that a smart AI isn't necessarily fun, as it results in players losing more often. Still, I don't want the AI to be blatantly foolish that it erases special gems that benefit them, so at one point special gem should have priority value assigned to them. - Punipen

I could just imagine the chorus of "The game cheats!" with a smart AI that isn't actually cheating.

kemocoliseum

@ZR LOL I think the original developer of Puzzle Quest had to actually show the code in the game so people can see that new tiles that fill the board are really random. Some people still don't believe it and claim that other parts of the code might affect the AI to cheat *sigh* - Punipen

I feel like more op synergies have happened before that this might be okay of a gimmick for Volga, but who knows, it can also be entirely based off of how well it counters a certain boss or whether it counters many bosses or so.
