More or less. I should be honest about this, I was avoiding doing some mods, like the hormone replacement one, on purpose to not join the shit show I'm about to describe. I cared about doing it, but I absolutely didn't want to be associated with the trend.

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I did the hormone therapy myself, so I'm FtM, so to say... despite that, I don't like the tendency in the sims community to include such themes into contents, and the unreal effort to be inclusive and sometimes FORCE others to be inclusive in their content. 90% of the times this inclusivity is done poorly, superficially, and with the sole purpose to integrate into the community and gain consensus, followers, and likes. Now, when it's done this way, someone who's been through it immediately notices.

This is not limited to gender identity, sexuality and ethnicity get the same treatment,  and there is also a tendency to use such things to rise dramas in order to gain attentions, meaning going hunting for supposed examples of racism or homophobia when there is no reason to call for these, honestly serious, accusation. This trends are often addressed anonymously on a popular, infamous LiveJournal.

I usually use my Comics to throw provocations about this, but not everyone reads them, or have interest into doing it... On Patreon, addressing this is going to get way more visibility. And I'm probably going to get a backslash but honestly, I don't care.

I'd like to kind of open a debate about it if someone is up for it, but mostly, I'd like to know if someone else noticed it.

I haven’t seen it often but I have seen it once very solidly in recent memory and it seemed a bit much. I

I think if folks are making mods they don’t have to be inclusive in them because mods are especially for niche things. Now that being said, I don’t think there is any harm in asking the modder if they would consider adding other dimensions to their work, if that’s the kind of thing they are open to but I don’t think the modder should be shamed for not having made it “inclusive” in the first place. A lot of modders make things for themselves first of all and then decide to share so it makes sense they would make it for whatever specific thing they want it for.

I think sadly the pressure to conform in the community is high, and draws people away from stuff they like to do a lot of times. This is not only for things others think people should include in their contents, but also for things others think people should not include in Sims content, like mature and adult themes. Instead of just ignoring something they don't like, as any adult would do, they go hunting for these things and pressure people to conform. There is kind of a strict code about what is allowed and not allowed in the Sims game (see the criticism to some mods that are not much in line with the Sims 4, like violent and sexual mods) and this is honestly the only gaming community where I saw it.

I've seen some mods pop up that seem like they're aiming to educate (BPD, DID, ect mods) I don't really know how to feel about these kind of mods like they almost feel trivializing and that makes me uncomfortable. It's messy so I agree with you and understand why you wouldn't want to deal with possible drama or the responsibility of getting everything right with the mod. That sounds like a whole lot of stress.

Pleasing everyone is objectively impossible, but no one is forced to install a mod they don't want in game and having more options is always a good thing. I recently saw a "witch hunting" (I saw more than one, lately) on a popular modder I'll not do the name, because they included a "heterosexual" option in a mod and was attacked and accused of homophobia for trying to give more options in a mod... when there was no need to, and including the option gives absolutely no clue about the real opinions of the modder in question. So any attempt at pleasing everyone (also people who are uncomfortable having same sex couples in game for whatever reason, that is not necessary homophobia but can be a personal preference, and like someone is allowed to have only same sex couples, others can be allowed to have only opposite sex ones because this is a fucking game, or people that try to play realistically limiting the percental to a real world correspondent like, for example, me) is inevitably going to piss everyone off.

People should be able to play their game the way they want, period. Mods allow players to customize their game to their liking. Nobody is playing the game with me, so no one should be offended by how I play. I do share your sentiment on the witch-hunting going on, such as when people had a heterosexual option. Options are good. People can pick and choose how they want to play their game, and that's good. Telling people how to think and act through isn't just a gaming phenomenon. It's happening now in every aspect of life if you think about it. Politics, religion, etc. It seems everyone has an opinion on how everyone else should act and feel, and that's just crazy.

They should be careful, because the step from being a discriminated minority to becoming the inquisition is REALLY short. And they become the exact same monster they try to fight, the one that tries to impose on others what they should be.

I've seen the trend and I honestly don't approve of it and I find it makes me angry that individuals use this trend just to gain followers or attention. I've found the community has turned into a conform or it is a witch hunt I'm not going to conform nor am I going to follow the herd mentality(meaning everyone thinks/acts/feels the same way) people have different thoughts feelings and such its what makes us as humans unique individuals in our own way once everyone starts following that mentality of do as I say think say act feel or view things or I'm going to witch hunt you its become a you are either with us or against us. I play this game to escape irl bullshit and to help me deal with my bipolar disorder I. I don't need mods to make my sims that way either and I detest individuals that do it just cause its in or wtf ever when in reality it isn't. That isn't to say people shouldn't play the game they want to, but also don't force others to play the same way you do or attack them for playing differently from you either I don't know if my post makes sense I normally don't converse in these topics and I don't mean to offend anyone either

Makes perfectly sense. I don't conform, either. I like to be myself and if someone doesn't like it, they know the way to fuck off. As someone who writes stories, I also think that the witch hunting and pressure to conform, as well as people paranoia about what they can include in their stories and what they cannot in order to not lose readers, greatly kills creativity and makes most of the sims stories dull and boring. This is not a problem of talent of the writers, but more a problem with the restrictions they're forced to face, in my opinion. Every time you want to talk about a "controversial" theme you need to justify yourself or get attacked... now, this never happened to me because I'm not into the spotlight (luckily) but I saw it happening to people more popular. You can hardly write something interesting if your characters cannot face adversities proper of real life (like homophobia to say one, or racism) and overcome them if you cannot include such themes to not offend people (that why should be offended is beyond me). Even worse if you decide to include themes that are even more controversial than this. You're forced to limit yourself into the range of what people in the stepford wives community can take. And if you use the sims as a media to write stories, you can hardly interest readers outside the community... so it's really a prison for creativity.

All I have to say is I'm tired of 2020 and the mentality of people. With all that's going on in the world I try to keep my positive energy and vibrations high. And as soon as I go online to get mods, or share my love for the game people have all this drama and negativity going on. And so many times I wanted to shout IF YOU DON'T LIKE OR AGREE WITH A MOD DON'T INSTALL IT!! Or if you don't agree with someone's belief, sexuality or whatever keep it moving. and I see people doing what you mentioned all the time rather it's sexuality, racism or any sensitive topic. These days I literally stay away from social media all together. I don't watch the news and I sure don't read those rediculous articles they come up with 🙄🙄🙄 okay I got that off my chest😅😅

It exists but maybe you should think to yourself ‘Is this the right platform for this’

It is pretty overwhelming, especially for a modder without the resources, time, or funds EA has. People mean well when they ask for mod expansions for inclusion's sake but after a certain point it feels like biting off more than you can chew.

Speak that truth!

Zero, I couldn't agree more. This "community" can be SO toxic. I play with about 120GB of mods and CC. If I downloaded content based on whether I liked someone or not, my Mods folder would be MUCH smaller... I play my game how I play my game and don't give two shits what others think about it. Same goes for the mods and CC I choose to use or not use. The people who try to play everyone else's games for them just need sit down, shut the hell up, and play their OWN damn game and leave the rest of us alone.

zer0_Mods_

They probably don't know that for few dollars they can buy followers that give them likes on every post without all the hassle to hunting down people to put at the stake to get attentions.

have you seen the latest shit storm posted by gurus?! this is also another reason the community is the way it is sigh guess I'll do personal mod to add it back in
