This is to explain a little better my point of view in the modding community.

Every time a modder claims Copyright on a mod, they're violating a license they agreed to in the first place the moment they started working on such mod.

This is why I find ridiculous any attempt to clam said "copyright" valid, since they're violating a copyright and a license they agreed to in the first place.

Thanks for clearing this up. I was so confused about this. I hear a lot of people saying it's illegal to make a mod or cc that someone else already did. But I'm thinking how could it be if the mod Is not "owned" by them in the first place?🤔

People make no sense. Yes modders should get credit, but it's Maxis code they are playing with. :/

So I have a question about existing “abandoned” mods. If I send you the link, would you look into updating them for us? I’ll even pay extra I’m that desperate for these updates!! 😩

zer0_Mods_

I don't want payments... I can look into them but traits made with the constructor have often tuning files I cannot make sense of, just for information if these mods are traits.

zer0_Mods_

it's not... it's just a rule people in this community impose over themselves, but I come from the skyrim community and this makes no sense to me.

I saw one dude throwing a tantrum about people complaining about his mods being behind a paywall and that if anyone wanted them, they were going to have pay for them because they were his mods and he didn't owe anyone anything (which is true; he doesn't *owe* anyone anything; none of our modders do, but, like, if you're that upset, maybe step back from modding?) and someone quoted this at him (they were very civil about it) and he just lost it. If he were a sim, he would've died of rage at that moment. I get being upset about not getting credit for something you worked really hard on and I 100% get why people would be upset if someone took their code and just straight copypasta-ed it (even leaving the original modder's name in, oh lord) and claimed it as their own, but parts of the sims community are just straight up petty. People *can* actually have the same ideas independent of each and/or want to implement those ideas differently in a mod. The drama about it is so just unnecessary. I showed up to download mods that make this stupid game interesting and fix its bugs because EAxis is lazy. I did NOT show up for stress.

zer0_Mods_

Script code is probably a whole different thing, I have no idea about it honestly so I don't have an opinion about that fact, but for tunings, it's all copy-paste of Maxis code so.... Let's not start on paywalls... I'm a pirate about that and I'm proud of it.

I wish I could read that

Technically, TS4 is not a creative medium along the lines of Photoshop. We may use it as such, but it's still primarily a game, which is why EA can claim intellectual property rights on third party content. However, that does not negate the social contract. Just because something is legal does not mean it's ethical or socially acceptable. This is why modders get upset when others do similar mods or outright copy another modder's code without credit or permission.

zer0_Mods_

I never cared much about social stuff, I tend to break the rules, that's probably the reason I'm more into legal written stuff.

Yes, EA owns my Mods. Yes, i still don't want my Mods to be reuploaded! somewhere else because 1) i put a lot of work, time & effort into my Mods 2) i don't want them to be uploaded behind paywalls and 3) i don't want to have to deal with the aftermath of broken Copies all over the place where i have no control of. Already had that kind of honour! You wrote you come from the Skyrim Community? Is that the same one like this person comes from (YT Comment): "I see Patreon, I'm out. Not supporting that kind of toxic modding community... If this were Skyrim mods, this chick would have been lynched by the community. Her and all the others who sell their mods."?

So, if a mod breaks, you can just remake it if you wanted to, without asking the author's permission, who possibly abandoned said mod, meaning you can revive dead mods... I like this rule. Btw, I have a small request for a mod, make motive decay 15% slower, I know it's not all that much slower, but I used a mod that did this and loved it. Now the only one I can find that's updated goes to 30% plus, which makes my game too easy and at times boring. (Sorry this is long) *Edit* Any chance you can also make eating faster? I knew a mod that made it so that took 4 bites and it's done, but I used that mod and realized it doesn't work anymore either.

zer0_Mods_

I already have one for personal use, I don't remember how affects it. I can also make a tutorial for this, it only takes to change a number (btw MCCC has the option to set motives faster or slower too)

Hey Zero, I only recently discovered your mods and I think they're fantastic! I posted links to several of them on my Tumblr that lead back here to inform others. I saw someone mention abandoned mods and I have a question/request. I am desperately in search of more After-School Activities for my child and teen Sims to take part in (other than Drama Club and Scouts) and so far I have only discovered 2 mods, but they are both by the same modder and she has abandoned them entirely. I would like to know if you could take a look and maybe get them updated to work now / maybe even create some of your own? I'm also curious why no one else has tried to make more. Links: https://kawaiistacie.wixsite.com/sims/downloads/after-school-activities https://kawaiistacie.wixsite.com/sims/downloads/camps-for-kids Thanks a lot!

Hey Chazzy! I know you from the forum (I'm SiliClone there). i already have some projects in mind about more activities do to after school for children, so I'm probably not going to rework or update those mods, I don't even know them, but it very likely that I'll work something completely new.

I can understand why some tunning modders don't want their mods to be reuploaded on other places, but you are working with something that is not yours. It 's like charging for selling someone's else paint with a new line on it. It just doesn't make sense. I mean, I have a couple of mods uploaded on MTS, but if somebody took them and even make them better, I wouldn't be mad, at the end of the day, we are a community and if somebody can improve my work,go ahead! The only exception for me are the script modders, I think they create content from 0 and at least, that would have to be recognized morally.
