You can only find the tome to learn this spell, it cannot be bought, you can't learn it from a sage or from practice, but you can learn it from duels. Or, you can go in buy debug and get the tome for it....

What's different between the spell and the death relic? With the spell, you don't get to choose what type of mark to cast on Sims, it's random. On normal charge, the outcome can be the common (electrocute) or uncommon (combustion) while on charged status, the outcome can be uncommon or rare (poison).

The interaction relies on the way Maxis applies the curse, on rare occasions it doesn't seem to want to work, but that's the only way to be sure the mark for death works the same way of the relics. Careful that the uncommon type can bring to instant death.
