Relatively speaking, one single year isn't that much or that fast. That's the whole point. Typically it'd be day by day, or even week by week. But the main character is an elf, so it's year by year.... which you could say is nearly equivalent in her mind. We had a 20-50 year time skip early on, so what's one measly year compared to that? That's how it should feel, as we're learning about Frieren's mindset. Since I got the gist of the theme in episode 1, I already expected plenty of time skips.
