Yeah the Universal Century (UC) timeline of Gundam is mad old (first one came out in 1979), but the original Gundam anime holds up surprisingly decently due to how good the writing is. Imo it's probably one of the best (if not debatably the best) Gundam shows in terms of its writing. Plus it's on Crunchyroll (or Netflix for the compilation films, which have their own advantages and disadvantages compared to the TV version) so it's pretty easy to get into if you can get past the old animation.

Nah, I dropped Mercury. None of the characters appealed to me, except Secilia, but that's just on a surface level and for degenerate reasons. Deeply, idgaf about anybody in this show, so it just took me out of it. And jfc, so many ppl talk about "writing" as if they're self-proclaimed experts lol. Ngl, with Gundam, all I really care about is the space battles lmao. Don't give me extra helpings of depressing bullshit.

Fair enough lol. Sounds like you'd probably like G Gundam or the Build Fighters series since those are more focused on the fights.

Of course people talk about the writing if they like it. You don't need to be an expert to talk about what you liked when you think the food tastes good, it's the same for writing. It's not that deep nor a reason to get pouty lol
