Also, Aqua's a high schooler. Akane's a high schooler. Mental age doesn't fucking matter anymore, the dude is DEAD. He is dead af, for a long time. He no longer exists. He's literally a different person now. He's become Aqua Hoshino. So there's no issue. Holy fuck ppl are so cringe when they overanalyze "mental age," especially when his mental voice is the exact same as his outward voice. There is no differentiation. Get over it ffs. Was a W reaction up until maybe... idk, halfway? A little more than halfway? Then it started getting KINDA cringe (maybe more than kinda), with the pansy oversensitivity about some dead guy whose actual voice we haven't heard since E1. He's not 47 (or w/e age)... at all. Rudy still has his old voice in his head, Aqua doesn't. You can't really compare them at this point, it's like apples and oranges. And even IF Aqua really wanted to be in a relationship, WTF is supposed to do that's supposedly "right?" If he gets with someone HIS age, it's wrong according to the "audience/viewers".... who don't fucking exist in the show. If he gets with someone the "viewers" (who are irrelevant and don't matter) deem appropriate, it's still wrong, and even more wrong, because that's how the other characters who actually exist in the series will perceive it. Can't just sit around and do nothing, especially if it were actually someone who felt more strongly about it than Aqua does. Again, extremely cringe-ass mindset of being trapped by a dead former life in a FICTIONAL animated series.

Found the mushoku tensei apologist. Bro's 47+, the problem is that he SHOULDNT be even INTERESTED in that kind of thing. On the flip side, Oshi No Ko did a good job of handling a nuanced take for their own universe, which was that the two lives blended together at a point, and he was "just aqua" - at least that was better than mushoku running headlong into degeneracy with their MC no apology
