About what you were talking about, the topics the anime uses resonates far more for people that actually has been in a band this competitive (at least in the music department), when you are a begginner and enter a good club with a good band, you are getting FUCKED and this year Kitauji is the best they have been, so the difference between the first years and third years is ginormous, you literally have Reina having a professional level as the head of the band. It is incredible commong to have a lot of dropouts in concert bands, and in this case having the first years dropping is a really big problem, because if they don't keep going next year the band will have a void in members, also, at this point you already watched episode 4 and 5, so you know they have 3 auditions this year, the tension is over the top this year. There is a band director teacher doing reactions to hibike too, it's called "DrumrollTony" he explains really well how hard it is to motivate all the young musicians without changing the strict system, because yeah, in competitive music you are good or you are worthless.
