One of the new characters, Hanazawa (the blonde tall girl), is one of the main characters in a short one-shot the mangaka, Sakurai Norio, wrote called "With Her Eyes Half Open", several years prior to writing The Dangers In My Heart. Chihiro is also one of the central characters, and what Chihiro mentioned how they knew each other in elementary school is probably reference to this one-shot. The book Hanazawa carried with her to the library is also something that shows up in the one-shot.
