Rick Hound

The guy with the rotating hearts is a Dead Apostle, basically nearly invincible vampires in the Nasuverse

Rick Hound

The time is 2009 in Arizona

Unfortunately for a lot of people the author of the novel does throw in a bunch of things that is assumed you will know from the Nasuverse such as Assassin's master obviously being a Dead Apostle and what that means as someone else commented. But you don't really need to worry about as its not very important to the plot, more so just a bunch of easter eggs. So if the show kind of just never explains some stuff that is why.

Man, it feels so good to see Enkidu again. After what happened in Babylonia it felt criminal that we didn't see the besties together again until now

Also the interesting thing the reason the same hero is different from each series is it usually depends on the artifact used which brings the servant into the world, then the servant will be shaped on what portion of their legend is manifest. Usually the class they are given is the aesthetic for the viewer to know. That’s why Gil is different so many times, because he’s such an ancient hero and legend he has so many interpretations. Honestly just ignore the FGO stuff since that is needless complexity for it.

It’s also interesting that Enkidu in the baseline universe (ignoring FGO and arcade) is almost impossible to summon since they’re closer to a divine spirit than a heroic so more conditions were needed for something like that to happen. And a chimeric wolf dying is probably the easiest way to do so

2023-07-05 07:07:52 Enkidu is genderless, just fyi. I usually refer to Enkidu as "he" myself, though. Lord El Melloi, the professor with long hair, is Waiver Velvet from Fate/Zero. The cloth he had in the case was from Iskander. He appeared as an adult like that at the end of Unlimited Blade Works. Had his own series with "The Case Files of Lord El Melloi II."

Regarding Babylonia, forget about it. Fate Grand Order is a turn-based mobile game. It has some interesting variations of the servants we know but all in all, its a gacha gotta collect all my waifus game. Babylonia had a few cool moments, personally I wasn't a fan overall. Didn't help that the pink haired nerd and main character were the definitions of bland and boring. Not that there's anything wrong with liking it. But anything with "Grand order" in it's title is essentially a fan-fiction commercial for the game. Not relevant in any way to the other Fates. If there are any similarities between Fake and Babylonia, they were most likely "borrowed" from this, considering that Fate/Strange Fake started out in 2009. The only Fate cannon to this one should be Zero, considering Waver's here and they teased Rider twice (someone already mentioned this). Side note, don't know if this is an inside joke or whatever, but no, that ain't how you pronounce Lancer's name. Hell, they mentioned him by name in this episode as well. So as I am writing this I realize the main takeaway of my rant is: Ignore everything Javan says about Fate :D

You definitely have to check out babylonia. It might not be the greatest series but the fights are crazy good and you see a lot more from gilgamesh. (and him not being an absolute asshole lmao) Plus watching it before Fate Strange Fake continues will be more interesting I bet. Wouldn't mind watching you reacting to it solo as well!
