That crow at the end was saying "aho...aho" which is a nicer version of baka. So it was saying idiot idiot. But you probably recognized it from Naruto. It had the same crow saying the same things a couple episodes.

Just to clarify the Japanese puns that subtitles didn't explain well in ep9. Ginpatsu(銀髪) no samurai = Gin(silver) + patsu(hair) samurai Ginshari(銀シャリ) no samurai = Gin(silver) + shari(rice) samruai. Sanpatsu(散髪) no samurai = San(scatter/disperse) + patsu(hair). Basically, samurai having a haircut. Katsu-Katsu(カツカツ) no samurai = Samurai who is poor. That's why Hijikata was telling that only samurai part was correct. Sorry for the long explanation though lol As you can see, Japanese use puns by changing kanji with same/similar pronunciation which changes the whole meaning.
