I speculated about the pregnant aspect, but then I realized if Parona was visibly preg when she got killed, then that would've shown when Fushi transformed into her. Also I think Fushi can resist small doses of the drug, but Hayase probably stuck him with a much larger or much more concentrated dose than he's used to.

This is the second time the show points out how Tonari's body can ward off the drug faster than everyone else, the first time being when Fushi made all the drugged food and everyone passed out while Tonari woke up a minute later. Either that or it's plot convenience.
