Oh just an fyi, Japanese style fried chicken actually is quite different from KFC. Even though I can't see what you saw, I think if you look up "karaage" you'll probably find something similar to what's on the Pringles can. That said, karaage in itself is sooooo good. Definitely recommend giving the real thing a try sometime if and when you get the opportunity.
