Bruh...This scene was definitely uncomfortable, but people blew it way out of proportion. And Rudy got his ass beat for it. Anyway, looking forward to the rest of the series!

people really need a barrier between fiction and reality

Super Gestuga (Sakura)

I can get why it made your feel uncomfortable, but I do agree people really did make a mountain out of a mole hill with this one. Atleast it was redo the healer or level that make it seem similar. But I'm glad you and Taylor are enjoying it so far

ManicMeeks

Folks FLIPPED OUT about it. I am echoing everyone else....you are supposed to be highly uncomfortable.

Just Another Josh

It’s absolutely an uncomfortable scene and most of the drama does come from a very understandable view that he’s a grown man mentally. The author did always acknowledge that what Rudy was doing was wrong, but he very rarely faces any punishment for it and he’s very slow to change. No matter how you phrase it, it’s still a grown man being attracted to a child. That being said, there’s absolutely the argument to be made that his state of mind has become more childlike and he’s not exactly the same as he was mentally. Ultimately the author could have handled all of this much better. They could have made it more clear if his mental age was closer to his physical body and maybe it’d be okay. Or they could have made him more aware of how wrong everything he was doing really was. It doesn’t take away how incredible this show is as the progenitor of the Isekai genre, but it’s certainly far from flawless and you can absolutely trace scenes like this to equally distasteful scenes in the shows it inspired.

That scene was super fucked up no matter how anyone spins it. It wasn't two kids fooling around. Rudy is mentally a grown ass man who was into loli porn (and it wasn't loli porn in the light novel, it was actual CP.)

zoltar

people say that rudys a grown man cuz of his mental age in a kid body but god help them if a 1000 year old dragon loli appears its the body that counts people just like to complain

JsnSkg

Also it's not the only thing that happened in these two episodes..... just saying. The ppl blowing it out of proportion act like it's the only scene in the whole show. Fuck outta here with that narrow tunnel vision.

Rudeus Greyrat

This is rudys redemption arc

Khansama

It really wasn't. And regardless, they're fake, drawn characters in a time frame when 40 year old nobels are marrying 15 year olds. There's a hint of medieval realism with the nobel world, usurping, preteen marriage arrangements. And ultimately you gotta pick your poison, either the kid is alone all his life because he's always going to be too old for anyone if your basing it off mentality. He ends up with an old woman while he's in a kid body. Or even tho he's mentally the same age as when he died, you let the guy live his new life from scratch. People always want to fight someone else's battles and prove to themselves they care. They don't. Especially if they call themselves anime fans, because they've seen this hundreds of times and yet they keep watching.

Khansama

But aside from everyone's opinions, since there's 11 episodes will you guys be doing the last 3 together?

ElswSwine68031

Anytime someone hates Rudeus everyone first thinks it's cause of Paul XD

JsnSkg

Exactly. It's a work of fiction with a main character who has major flaws, who gets a restart at life to become a better person. It's very gradual and slow, but he is making progress. Some people act like Rudy is a character written as extremely flawed for no reason. Like wtf would be the point in that? OBVIOUSLY the reason is to show drastic character development as he grows over time. Perfect protagonists are cool sometimes if done well, but they can also be boring af. Obviously in the real world, we're not concerned with "character development" there's no amazing story to be invested in. But for some reason, people don't get that.

Zykira

I can see it both ways on how uncomfortable it maybe for some. My thought was why was she in his room anyways. Did her father put her to it? But let me say this, if that little bit of episode 8 bother you guys which is granted. I don’t see anyone you watching redo healer. Or what ever the name of the show is. I think that Rudi is going to mature and maybe less perverted. We have to realize he doesn’t have anyone talk to about his past or how he’s really feeling. He spent most of his time traumatized and in the house. He does feel remorse when he does something to the girls he cares about. He’s learning to be considerate to others.

Rudeus Greyrat

there aren't many animes where you see a main character start from a baby and grow up. i can't wait to him as an adult. wonder how much he will age when the anime comes back in the summer.

Flare

People really did overreact to episode 8. The scene with Eris and Rudy was MADE to make you feel uncomfortable and also to further establish how much of a degenerate Rudy is. I mean, he's mentally 40 and is fully conscious of his actions. However, we saw how fucked his mental state was before he got Isekai'd. That isn't to say his actions are justified, but to say that he still needs to improve his mindset and become a better person overall if he truly wants to ''take life more seriously'' in this world. That's literally what this story is about, getting a chance to live a proper life and become a better person. But then again, people are too narrow minded and fail to understand what the author is intending to do with Rudy's character and the story as a whole. People have literally stated that the author is a pedophile and is trying to promote pedophilia when that's not the case at all. Anyways, I'm glad you guys have been enjoying the series so far, I'm looking forward to the last 3 reactions!

funkymonk

To add to it. In the LN Rudy really goes into himself after the scene. I can't remember the exact lines but basically Rudy really is dissapointed in himself, calling himself trash and garbage repeatedly. This scene was basically one of his big character developments/turning points and they kind of downplayed it a little in the anime about how upset with himself he was.

Hakurei Oni

Thanks for being mature about that scene lol. It is uncomfortable, but it's meant to be, and some people out there judge the entire show by that once scene which is insane. Especially considering the important stuff that happens right afterward.

JsnSkg

So, among the OTHER things that actually have happened (because surely we are capable of talking about those as well).... In the library, when Rudy and Philip were talking about Beast People, essentially was like, "Oh, I see you're a man of culture as well." XD "Not meow.... MEOW." lmfao. Ghislaine: Sword King and Beast-Woman with an Ass of Steel.

JsnSkg

Taylor should record that Pussy Rain Down song he was doing at the halfway mark lmao. I was waiting for his reaction to that white-haired dude's voice. YES, it is indeed Kenjiro Tsuda. One of the GOAT VA's.

sim

yeah kinda the only thing sad the anime diddnt adapt was howhe torn into himself for what he did

JsnSkg

The SFX and visuals at the end were insane. Also, I just noticed an Arc System Works logo at the end credits there on the bottom right during the last scene..... looked it up. "Arc System Works is credited in the ending for figures made by Rudeus featuring the characters Dizzy and Jam Kuradoberi from the Guilty Gear Series."

Jiggy

Excited for your upcoming reaction to the last 3 episodes. And yes, i did have the same reaction as Taylor when i heard the voice LOL

L.C.

This is where the story truly starts. People overreact to anything these days. The problem is the popularity of anime is constantly rising and with that comes snowflakes and bitch ass normies that can't handle anything. It is super annoying. Sometimes I wish anime was only given to select people.

As a MT fan (read everything) I got some ptsd when I heard the word rat, won’t elaborate any further
