Just Another Josh

I’m surprised that I’ve never heard of this movie before, that was really incredible. Such an interesting concept executed about as perfectly as possible. Like you guys mentioned, the constant camera angle swaps were really great. My favorite thing is just how hard the movie itself tries to convince the viewer that Age’s gravity is the correct gravity. Every time that he is underground we see everyone else on the roof, whereas Patima’s scenes in his world would occasionally swap between camera angles. The movie itself was trying to make the viewer believe the lie that Age’s world was “correct”. That made the final reveal so much more impactful. The moment that ceiling breaks and we’re exposed to the remains of Earth the camera stays in line with the correct gravity, revealing that Age and the officers are all inverted. Brilliantly done. Also, I might as well throw in what I believe happened to the world. After the accident the majority of the population was likely killed, either floating into space or being trapped in the buildings that were floating off, the ruins creating a ring of Earth’s remains around the moon. The survivors were two groups, the few inverted that managed to stop themselves from floating away, and the scientists who were protected. The inverted decided to live underground and create their own world, while the scientists felt an obligation to watch over and help them, also living underground. Eventually the inverted lost their history and became obsessed with their own illusions, convincing themselves that they were the real Earth. The inverted lived in their own world, the descendants of the scientists lived above them in the underground, and the surface of the Earth itself was abandoned by both until the ceiling broke at the end of the movie.
