I'm Aussie and we always had uniforms

Anonymous

I remember my teachers telling us jeans used to be banned and girls couldn't wear pants to school. As culture and fashion changes uniform rules will also. I went to a Christian high school and in my freshman year 2015 sweat pants, leggings, sleeveless shirts were banned. Eventually in my senior year the student senate convinced the board to allow us to wear those clothing items but leggings could only be worn at the gym.

Does anyone remember those colored bracelets from back in the day and if someone cut them off you or if you wore a certain color it meant something sexual? Yeah those were banned at my middle school lol

The last point they missed because of time constraint was that it was a male teacher who complained to the principal about her being a distraction. That seems like a him problem more than other students who probably barely noticed what she was wearing. Kinda suss 🤔

we had to tuck in our shirts too😬 couldn’t wear the colors red or blue

Teacher got a boner and couldnt handle it. It was a teacher problem. The kid looked appropiate to me.

It's kinda odd to me to hear about all this dress code shit, cause here in Finland we have NO dress code whatsoever in schools. I've basically seen everything you can imagine - there's been girls showing up to high school in dressed down club dresses or in white yoga pants with their underwear showing through, there's been guys in legit suits and dress shirts with most of the buttons open like man there's no dress code whatsoever. In any of the schools I've attended, I've never heard of any incidents regarding the clothing people have worn. Being used to this it makes it so weird to hear about the strict dress code y'all have in the States like shoulders are not allowed to be shown or smth😳💀

Which High School in RB did Steve graduate from?

Maybe this is just a Canadian thing but in middle school, for me (2011-2013) a big trend were these breast cancer awareness bracelets that said “I🖤Boobies” and all the boys were wearing them and they eventually banned them at our school. Which I think was silly because it was slowly desensitizing the word boobies and bringing awareness to breast cancer. So once again, after the ban, it became such a taboo thing

Ive got three daughters and I wouldn't let him go to school like that. Because no child of mine will commit a fashion crime! Ugly outfit IMHO

Tiff and Bobbi I need you to be on the girl's side. Not buying into this misogynistic BS.

My middle school wouldn’t let us wear any bandanas because of gang affiliation but in my high school the rules were basically have straps (but off the shoulders weren’t allowed which was dumb cuz just as much shoulder as spaghetti strap was shown) and then it was to be covered from the chest down to “mid thigh” but there was so many girls with their asses out. That’s pretty much all they enforced was the no off the shoulder tops and sometimes a girl would get dress coded because of her stomach showing

I'm from Vancouver, BC and I never saw anyone get dress coded in our high schools even with way more skin and tight clothes or tons of cleavage. The only dress codes we really had here were if swear words or nudity were clearly shown on your shirt. She must've gone to a smaller town's school or had a weirdly strict teacher then
