one of my profs had us play a "slave simulation game" they had created as an example for something we could do in the classroom (i'm a teacher). you rolled a die for results (# of times you get whipped, if you successfully run away to canada, if you die, etc). the idea is to entertain students with something interactive + using them critical thinkin' skills (and probs to fill up class time lol) vs lecturing them, but oof, it just comes off very distasteful and poorly thought out :/

I don't think they deserved to be suspended...tone deaf sure, and possibly lazy but...as Joe said, we are triggered by the word "slavery" from the American perspective. That's my opinion.

It really is such a self centered and ignorant pov, its been made such a black and white issue in America, that the real History of slavery is often forgotten...so it leads dumb ppl to make unnecessary connections.
