Update regarding the new currency options for Euro and Pound users (Patreon)
Content
I am copying and pasting a message from Proko (another patron) who looked into this post about the new currency options all creators are being forced into. Please disregard this if you are continuing to pledge in USD.
Quoting Proko: "So I checked out this new Patreon thing where you can pay in Euros now. As it turns out it is (unsurprisingly) NOT good. They use fixed prices that are well above the current exchange rate, so not only you will pay more if you switch to Euros, but they also charge Sal an extra 2.5%, so it's more expensive for everybody. Here, I made a table summarizing how much extra it will cost you depending on your tier. The only way it would actually benefit you is if your bank charges less exchange fees than Patreon does (shown in red), although that's very unlikely (most here charge around 3%, mine for example actually charges nothing for small amounts)"
So essentially... continue to pay in USD (thankfully you can willingly pay in USD even if your local currency is Euro or Pound) if it won't affect you adversely. Depends on what your bank/union/card does, I guess. Sorry about this, guys. I have no choice about Patreon's decision since this is happening to all creators.
You may have to do some calculations on your own. Thanks for understanding.
