In this Apprentice picture, we see Lau'ika having trouble maintaining her human disguise due to ever growing hunger. Despite being innate, the troll magics require a certain level of concentration to maintain. In Lau'ika's case, her hunger can certainly distract her enough to result in these kinds of situations.
