It’s BLUFF! Researchers analyzed data from the past 20 years, and from 168 countries with varying rates of internet adoption. They found no significant correlation between internet use and well-being or mental illness. Having said that, some individuals who increase their internet use may experience changes in happiness and mental health. However, overall, it seems that internet adoption doesn’t affect the overall happiness or mental health of a society. This contradicts the common wisdom that the internet is psychologically corrosive. (10.1177/21677026231207791)
