I missed the poll, but definitely a lot of potentially interesting options! Just wanted to point out a minor clarification regarding the “Keep Sweet, Pray, & Obey”/warren Jeff’s documentary- while his particular group is unequivocally a cult, and he refers to them as being members of the “FLDS” Mormon church (fundamentalist church of Latter Day Saints), the fundamentalists are not a legitimate faction of the Mormon/LDS Church. It’s similar in concept to the Branch Davidians. The official Mormon Church has been pretty adamant about their rejection of the fundamentalists as some sort of “breakaway” sect, and is very vocally opposed to them being colloquially referred to in conjunction. There are actually several key ideological distinctions in which each group adheres, with the most commonly associated being, of course, polygamy. The official Mormon Church/LDS expressly outlawed all polygamy roughly ~150 years ago, and does not condone the practice amongst its members. There are a lot of other examples, and I’m not/never was Mormon personally, but i do think the differentiation is important to remember when properly analyzing any group of people. It’s easy to apply stigmas when over-generalizing seemingly similar people and attributing certain assumptions that may not be accurate, and can often lead to harmful stereotypes. Of course, I don’t think that was the implication here at all, as you’re generally quite cognizant of this issue, but I just wanted to point this out in case this was a prospective episode topic!

The Turpin family! There's a Diane Sawyer documentary called Escape from a House of Horror on Netflix.
