Well that anecdote sure made me feel lousy about not getting accepted to grad school 🤕 for the sake of my ego, I will assume that, after the clusterfuck with the student described, program standards got a lot higher….

It might depend on the size of the schools program! I've looked at a phd program through a local university that accepts students from their bachelor's to essentially skip a master's. They only accept 4 students a year for it, though, so it's massively competitive. I'd imagine those with a masters are more likely to be accepted
